Aerojet Rocketdyne Associate Software Engineer/Data Processing Engineer in Canoga Park, California


Aerojet Rocketdyne is seeking an Associate Software Development Engineer to join our team in Canoga Park, CA . The successful applicant will support the processing of high-speed and low-speed engine data from hot-fire tests and launches into a form useful to the broader Engineering organization, support the development and maintenance of the applications that perform the data processing, support the underlying infrastructure of Engineering applications, and develop other real-time and non-real-time applications in support of Aerojet Rocketdyne programs. The successful applicant will perform software requirements analysis, design, implementation, unit test, and integration tasks under the guidance and direction of a software development team lead. The ideal candidate has had exposure to data acquisition theory, embedded and real-time software concepts, and the C/C++/C# programing languages. This position will report to the Sr. Manager, Software Engineering, Los Angeles.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

Working under direct supervision:

30% - Processing of high-speed and low-speed data, using applications developed in-house, to translate it into forms that are useful to the broader Engineering and Test organizations.

30% - Development and maintenance of custom applications that support the processing of high-speed and low-speed data.

20% - Perform requirements analysis, design, implementation, unit test and integration of real-time and non-real-time application software associated with Aerojet Rocketdyne products.

20% - Support the underlying infrastructure of Engineering applications.


Requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline (or an equivalent combination of education and experience). Solid verbal and written communication skills expected.

US Citizenship required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (U.S. Citizenship required). Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with the acquisition and processing of high frequency data.

  • Familiarity with Data acquisition theory.

  • Exposure to real-time control theory.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Server administration.

  • Exposure to and/or understanding of CMMI Level 3 and greater software processes.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit or stand and maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds; may require occasional walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
