We are seeking a Technology Strategy and Development Specialist to join our facility in Canoga Park, CA . This position is for someone who is interested in both the space and defense areas, understands the technology of our products, but is also interested in the business development and strategy aspects of the company.
Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)
40% - Assist in defining and rationalizing the Company’s Technology Strategy.
Work with Business Development (BD) to update and refine customer roadmaps.
Provide research and support on market trends with a deep understanding of Aerojet Rocketdyne's (AR) products, customers and competitors.
Understand the Federal Acquisition Process to better plan and allocate resources.
Review congressional authorization and appropriations bills to assess the impacts to AR's technology plans.
Review other published government documents such as solicitations on Fed Biz Ops, RDOCs, POMs, etc to ensure new applications for AR technology is exploited.
Create detailed business cases for internal investment justification to pursue identified opportunities.
Contribute to the annual budgeting process and funding priorities.
40% - Support and manage the Technology Development Process.
Work with chief engineering to develop technology roadmap plans.
Manage AR's IR&D portfolio to drive ensure projects are accomplishing the desired objectives.
Evaluate the generated Intellectual Property to determine best method of protection and analyze IP assets for potential monetization.
Review competitor’s technology from publicly available information such as patent filings or trade show literature and determine the impact to AR's business strategy.
Look for ways to leverage SBIRs and university research to accelerate technology development.
20% - Create presentations, reports and other documentation.
Provide technology progress summaries including KPI and metrics to executive management.
Create executive technology strategy briefings to recommend direction and funding for decision making purposes.
Ensuring command media reflects current processes and is maintained.
Although this position is primarily related to technology development and IR&D, from time to time special projects corporate strategy will be managed within this office that could require a significant amount of time.
Requires a Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline and at least 9 years of related experience (preferably in advanced space or defense) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
US Citizenship required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (U.S. Citizenship required). Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.
FP&A or other financial analysis experience.
Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint and Project.
Strong written and verbal persuasive communication skills are essential.
Self starter that is able to work independently, as well as effectively with a virtual team.
Demonstrated ability to work with multiple stakeholders to achieve a solution that will be broadly supported for stakeholders competing for limited resources.
The candidate must be comfortable with ambiguous direction and partial information to infer underlying objectives with considerable latitude in defining the approach to the assignments.
Previous experience in technology development.
Project management and EVM experience.
Proposal and capture involvement.

May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
