Aerojet Rocketdyne Specialist Engineer, Manufacturing in Jupiter, Florida

We have an immediate opening for a Specialist Manufacturing Engineer at our West Palm Beach, Florida facility. This position will work with and support development activities and projects.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

With minimal direction and exercising considerable latitude in determining methods and approaches, the SpecialistManufacturing Engineer independently determines and develops approaches to assignments, plans schedules and arranges own activities in accomplishing objectives. Acting as a resource for colleagues, this person may act as lead on a project. Typical duties include, but are not limited to:

50% - Program Support.

  • Represents Operations process organization on the applicable Integrated Program Management Team (IPMT).

  • Coordinate with respective Program Office(s) to ensure Schedule coordination, Make/Buy strategy, and Proposal support.

  • Coordinate and drive execution of plans to ensure seamless transition from development to production.

25% - Functional Support.

  • Understand the respective value-stream and facilitate cohesion among the functional groups to deliver on-time, quality products.

  • Participate on the Engineering Systems Integration Team (ESIT).

  • Facilitate with key functional groups such as Supply Chain and Material Management, Operations, Quality, various Engineering disciplines, and Finance to ensure accomplishment of program goals and objectives.

20% - Infrastructure Planning.

  • Coordinate Resource support requirements such as manpower planning, tooling, capital, etc.

  • Evaluate capacity planning analysis to ensure Program objectives are achievable.

  • Lead and/or participate in factory planning initiatives.

  • Establish Program Industrial & Manufacturing support plans.

5% - Related duties as assigned.


Requires a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline such as Industrial Engineering or Mechanical Engineering and nine (9) years' directly related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Ideal candidate will have an exposure to or working knowledge of lean manufacturing and experience in an industrial production environment.

The following skills are critical to successful functioning in this position:

  • Project Management;

  • Communication (Verbal and Written);

  • MS Project/Excel;

  • Lean and Six Sigma manufacturing principles;

  • Familiarity with blueprints and technical drawings;

  • Ability to operate effectively in a team environment;

  • Ability to lead and direct a cross functional team to achieve Operations related program milestones.

US Citizenship required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (U.S. Citizenship required). Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

The work environment may require a combination of indoor and outdoor activity (hot, cold, wet, humid conditions) with a varied amount of walking, standing, sitting, climbing (i.e. ladders, stair, scaffolding, ramps), balance (maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces), bending, reaching, handling/fingering (seizing, holding, grasping, turning picking, pinching), stooping, kneeling, crouching and ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, employees may work around variable noise levels. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. May also be required to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer. Some employees may be required to drive between various locations within the Company facility.
