We are seeking a Mission Assurance Manager to join our facility in Orlando, FL . In this role, you will have the authority and responsibility to effectively communicate and interface daily with company leaders, peers, direct reports, customers (internal and external) and all organizations within the company. Will be responsibility and accountable for applying quality principles, technical knowledge and continuous improvement philosophies. Responsible for leading and directing the daily activities of the Mission Assurance team and for developing and maintaining a culture of quality both within his/her team and across the site. In addition, the individual will develop and maintain the mission assurance strategy for assuring a quality product that meets the customer's requirements at the lowest cost is produced.
Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)
85% - Lead and support Mission Assurance Engineers. Provide Mission Assurance support to ongoing programs including review of documents and drawings, participation in program meetings as required, participation in risk boards as required, being a voting member of the engineering change control board, review of root cause, corrective action, and disposition of Non Conformances, Test Readiness Reviews, all technical reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR), and verification of objective evidence of conformance to flight hardware requirements. Ensure current flow-down requirements are provided to Suppliers, internal manufacturing, Mission Assurance Engineers and other functional organizations. Ensure appropriate Mission Assurance Engineers are also aware of new flow-down requirements. Accountable for problem resolutions including the initiation and closure of root cause and corrective/preventative action. Support proposal activities as requested.
10% - Manage the day-to-day activities of the Mission Assurance group. This may include, but not limited to activities such as:
Provide technical direction to employees, assign Engineers to support programs, interface with other Coleman Aerospace departments, establish work priorities and assign personnel to meet those requirements.
Maintain department’s fiscal expectations, utilization and commitments by working closely with internal customers and participate in meetings where decisions and planning / program support work scheduling occurs. Account for personnel performance evaluations in accordance with company policies and procedures.
5% - Lead / participate in continuous improvement projects and innovative initiatives which drive improvement in key processes as measured through performance metrics. Respond to negative trends in performance data through the use of continuous improvement tools. Drive the use of process variation reduction activities.
Support, deploy, lead the Mission Assurance organization using the ARBOS (Aerojet Rocketdyne Business Operating System) tools as the foundational structure.
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in quality, safety, engineering, physical sciences (or other related field) and a minimum of 7 years of directly related experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
US Citizenship Required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (requires U.S. Citizenship). Position may require the ability satisfy enhanced personnel security requirements (as applicable). Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information.
Additional Requirements and Preferred Qualifications:
Requires a working knowledge of common quality standards (ISO-9001 and AS9100) and typical aerospace processes (machining, welding, fabrication, material forming, product assembly, Foreign Object prevention, MRB, Quality Requirements Engineering (QRE), etc.).
Demonstrated experience in the leadership of continuous improvement tools (e.g. Lean, 6S, root cause analysis, process mapping) required.
Experience in development of new products in a multi-functional team environment.
Must demonstrate excellent writing and verbal skills, and an ability to mentor and increase the effectiveness and productivity of employees.
Must have experience partnering with other business organizations including Finance, Engineering, Program Management and Operations.
Support all program proposals with functional requirements, manpower requirements and risk assessments: Manage quality program and overhead budgets within 5% of latest approved budget, EAC or ETC.
Manufacturing, Assembly and Test experience desired (preferably with aerospace industry emphasis).
Experience in functional management with proven leadership in Quality Assurance or related discipline preferred.
Must be willing and able to travel to other Aerojet Rocketdyne and customer sites.
Advanced degree in Business or Engineering is a plus.

Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit and to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds; may require minimal walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and extended hours beyond the typical 40 hour work week to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
