Aerojet Rocketdyne seeks an Administrative Assistant for our Assembly and Operations department for our location in Stennis Space Center, Mississippi .
This position has responsibility for all administrative functions for the Assembly Operations department. Customer service skills are essential for this position. This is a demanding position and may require extended hours and significant coordination of visitors and special events. He/she will interface with various departments and teammates, including executive level personnel.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)
The successful individual will need to solve problems with limited direction, display a high degree of initiative and effectively communicate with personnel at all levels of the company. Additionally, this position will handle confidential and company-sensitive information with considerable discretion, judgment, tact and diplomacy. Manages multiple tasks simultaneously and rapidly adapts to changing circumstances.
40% - Performs assignments including responding to inquiries, solving problems, and locating and summarizing information - executes complex sequence of operations in an established field under continually changing conditions requiring independent action. Reviews and answers inquiries using initiative and determines within established guidelines if executive action is required. Provides information as appropriate, about organization and procedures.
20% - Arranges employee travel reservations and business meetings/functions. Plans for and monitors customer meetings. Prepares expense reports and handles invoices.
20% - Purchases indirect materials including office supplies and hand tools to support operational needs; tracks shipments; and prepares expense reports.
10% - Processes material in final form from rough and involved drafts that require frequent use of business and technical terminology and which combine materials from several sources.
10% - Gathers company internal data and compiles reports; compiles and organizes data for the department, maintains sensitive files and records. Prepares, organizes and collects files, and performs data archiving to ensure rapid retrieval of files.
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS: Other duties as assigned.
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent preferred and 2 years of directly related administrative support experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have the ability to handle multiple actions simultaneously with frequent interruptions and time critical responsiveness.
Requires strong working knowledge of MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook). Experience with the Concur Travel and Expense reporting application is highly desirable.
Must be able to operate standard office equipment; to effectively interface with executive levels of personnel and work in a team environment; to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; and to effectively schedule and prioritize work flow.
Requires knowledge of typical office practices, policies and procedures, filing systems and record keeping.
Also requires knowledge of business correspondence, including rules of grammar, sentence structure, punctuation and spelling.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (requires U.S. Citizenship). Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.
Work Environment/Physical Requirements:
Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit and to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 15 pounds; may require minimal walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
